Default Trappers Buffed in Factions?

Well I got my Pre-order edition box today from Amazon and was reading the tacticle booklet when near the back showing team builds and it said this;

Quote:
Rangers with trap skills have always been powerful, but with Guild Wars Factions they become even stronger.
Then it goes on about using ViM warriors and healing yourself and various other stuff.

So trappers are gonna be even deadlier??

God I hope not. It's bloody hard enough to play a bowman as it is. I don't want to be a blasted trapper! :-P

Interesting. Of all my toons, my trapper ranger is the one that really makes the money.

I wonder what they mean by that?

You know to be honest i like playing the Conditions angle (poison, bleeding ect) a lot more than i like playing a trapper. But no one really wants that when it comes to pvp and most groups just want pure damage when it comes to pve so dmg over time is kinda looked down upon.

See, I find it easier to get groups as a bowman. I enjoy my ranger all around though.

well they got a skill I saw (In the pvp creation screen in the locked skills area) a skill called "poisonous bite" i'm assuming this is like poison arrow but with pets... after all I don't think rangers bite other people.... thats Necromancers

I am guessing that this is refering to the new skill Trapper's Resolve. Since mantra of resolve was nerfed, its a lot harder to be an effective offensive trapper because of the energy drain. Trapper's Resolve may be an attempt to correct this.

You are right. If it turns out to be something other than what everyone expects, there wil be much wailing and gnashing of teeth. I guess we will find out in a week.

It sounds like its going to be a Mantra of Resolve clone.

hmm, seems pretty obvious to me!

A Trap is an AoE (Area of effect) ability...

Looking at the videos team sizes look much bigger, battles span a much wider area..monsters are much larger.. and there seems to be a heavyer use of minions...

with all these extra 'targets' running around it significantly increases the chances of a trap, not only being triggerd (rather than laying to waste) but effecting more targets than previous!..

So, I dont think they are going to be making traps have a wider effect or altering their cost or statistics..or anything like that.

I think it just means that in Factions, there will be more situations where their usefullness increases dramatically.

Hopefully factions will promote tactical trapping not just 'OK LOL PUT THEM ALL HERE AND WATCH THE WARRIOR GO BOOM LOL'

'Enemy Monk is using Healing Seed!' ohh noo...... hopefully we'll have huge fighting areas that're like mine fields 'cause of all of the traps.

From Guild Wiki, Trapper's Focus doesn't look to be a Mantra of Resolve clone, thankfully. Rather, it would make your traps activate like normal skills instead of being easily interruptable. ...meaning a good interrupter will still be a royal pain, but you don't have to worry about every single attack being a problem. I like the sound of that, especially since it's elite. You'd have to choose between that and Oath Shot or Spike Trap. Mmmmm, decisions.

I suppose it's a stance as well... hmm, I'd probably still stick with my heroin addic.. I mean Oath Shot addiction.
